Cruise from the Catalan metropolis of Barcelona to the medieval landscapes of Belgium, beginning in the heart of the Costa Blanca, where the character of Alicante has been shaped by a variety of occupants throughout history, including the Phoenicians, Greeks and Romans.

Málaga is the birthplace of Picasso with a skyline dominated by the ruins of Castillo de Gibralfaro. Enjoy a guided tour before relaxing in the cafés and boutiques of the old quarter – or take a full-day excursion to the Alhambra Palace, one of the most breathtaking buildings in the world and the most outstanding symbol of Moorish heritage in Spain.

On the Gibraltar Peninsula, meet the cheeky animal inhabitants of the Rock of Gibraltar, or visit the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Gorham’s Cave, where Neanderthals once lived. 

The Portuguese capital of Lisbon offers a lively blend of culture, history and cuisine, with highlights including the historic Belem Quarter and Tower, the Monument of the Discoveries and the Monastery of Jeronimos. You may also visit the traditional fishing town of Cascais, or take a panoramic trip to Sintra, where the National Palace is the best-preserved medieval royal residence in the country.

Explore stylish Porto on a scenic boat trip along the Douro River, followed by a port wine tasting. Tour the Spanish city of A Coruña and try some local tapas, or visit the world-famous pilgrimage site of Santiago de Compostela, where the crypt beneath the cathedral is said to be the burial place of Saint James. In France, enjoy a trip to Bordeaux’s world-famous wine-growing region of Médoc, for a taste of fine wines and a drive along the “Route des Châteaux.” On the coast of Normandy, visit one of the most iconic islands in Europe, the 11th-century abbey of Mont-Saint-Michel, followed by the historic city of Saint-Malo, or the medieval town of Dinan.

Day 1 – Barcelona, Spain

The Catalan city is one of the most beautiful in the entire Mediterranean. Nine objects in Barcelona are on the UNESCO World Heritage List. The cityscape is characterized by buildings by the architect Antoni Gaudí. The facade of the five-aisled basilica is admirable; But he also created a stately town house, the Palau Güell, and Park Güell on a mountain ridge in the north of Barcelona. Hundreds of tapas bars with typical Spanish specialties await visitors on the Las Ramblas entertainment mile.

Follow in the footsteps of the great Portuguese explorers in Porto! The narrow streets and the centuries-old buildings bear witness to times long past. Culinary delights await you with a port wine tasting – the noble wine got its name from the Portuguese port city in the 18th century.

Day 9 – La Coruna, Spain

Welcome to Galicia, to A Coruña. The Roman street network and the medieval squares and churches bear witness to the city’s long history. At the harbour, the Tower of Hercules (Torre de Hércules), the oldest lighthouse in the world that is still in operation and is on the UNESCO World Heritage List, shines. The gallery houses at the harbour are striking with their glazed wooden balconies, which are typical of Galicia.

Day 10 – Bilbao, Spain

As is well known, one cannot argue about taste. About art too (not). But a visit to the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao, Spain is definitely a must. The collection of contemporary art is great, but the titanium-clad building is also a real eye-catcher. You will experience the friendly metropolis as lively and colorful, which is also due to its many parks and green spaces.

Day 11 – Port Médoc (Bordeaux), France

Zeebrugge is all about the sea. Relax on the beautiful beaches of the Belgian port city, get active with sailing or fishing or taste real specialties – Zeebrugge is considered the capital of fish!
