Sicily & the Highlights of the Greece Islands –  Cruise Summary

In Greco-Roman times one of the largest and wealthiest cities on Sicily was Syracuse. Follow in the footsteps of the ancients at the excavation site of Neapolis, before strolling through the historic town centre of Ortygia. Or discover Sicily’s Baroque jewel on an excursion to Val di Noto.

Idyllic Corfu was a place of refuge for the shipwrecked Odysseus and has been enchanting visitors ever since. Succumb to the beauty of its charms on a tour through Corfu old town and discover why the 19th century Empress Elisabeth of Austria had the neoclassical Palace of Achilleion redesigned as her private residence.

A Caribbean dream in the heart of Europe, the fine sandy beaches and shimmering turquoise waters of Kalamata await next. Enjoy an afternoon exploring the sacred Byzantine buildings of the old quarter, or simply relaxing in this Peloponnesian gem.

Greece’s largest island, Crete, is a magical blend of wild beauty, charming villages, ancient marvels and rich mythology. Delve deeper into the island’s history at the Archaeological Museum in Heraklion, or visit a true highlight of Antiquity, the Palace of Knossos, reputed to be the location of the legendary Minotaur’s Labyrinth.

Mykonos is one of the most popular destinations in Greece. Enjoy a guided walk through the island’s main town, or Chora, where iconic windmills and whitewashed houses catch the eye, or settle back for a leisurely panoramic drive across the island, to reach the Monastery of Panagia Tourliani in Ano Mera.

Alternatively, visit the UNESCO World Heritage sacred island of Delos, mythical birthplace of Artemis and Apollo, a place of myriad ancient treasures including the ruins of streets and shops, temples and markets, a grand amphitheatre and houses with mosaic floors, not to mention the Avenue of the Lions.
