EXPLORE SPAIN CRUISE SUMMARY

Discover the historical coastal cities of the Iberian Peninsula, with stops in Melilla, Cartagena, Palma de Mallorca, Barcelona and Valencia, on a cruise topped and tailed by charming Málaga, a city of traditional balconied buildings, narrow pedestrian streets and some of the best tapas bars in the province.

Crossing the Alboran Sea, don’t miss the chance to enjoy a guided walk through the wonderfully multicultural old quarter of Melilla, one of only two autonomous Spanish cities on the coast of Morocco.

On the Spanish mainland, explore the harbour town of Cartagena in the company of our expert local guide, take a gourmet tour with tapas and wine tasting, or visit the former La Unión mine, before being entertained by a traditional flamenco show.

Mallorca is the largest of the Balearics and a popular destination for fun seekers, but there’s a lot more to discover than beaches on the island, including the watery Dragon Caves of Manacor and the charming hillside town of Sollér, where you will have the opportunity to visit an historic olive oil mill and enjoy a tasting.

In Barcelona, witness the greatest masterpieces of Antonio Gaudi, including Casa Batlló, Casa Milà and of course the Sagrada Familia, a unique and breathtaking basilica that towers over the city. In the evening, don’t miss the spectacular Font Màgica fountain show, which offers a fantastic fusion of light, water and music.

Spain’s third largest city, Valencia holds an outstanding place in the nation’s architectural and cultural history. Take advantage of our guided tour of the city, or for those feeling more active, go it alone and explore on two wheels by booking our biking excursion.

Finally, don’t miss the chance to enjoy a guided tour to the Albufera National Park and lagoon, just along the coast from Valencia, a place of outstanding natural beauty.

Day 5 – Barcelona, Spain french riviera nicko cruises uk

The Catalan city is one of the most beautiful in the entire Mediterranean. Nine buildings in Barcelona are on the UNESCO World Heritage list. The cityscape is characterised by buildings of the architect from Antoni Gaudí. The facade of the five-nave basilica is admirable; but he also created a stately townhouse, the Palau Güell, and the Park Güell on a ridge in the north of Barcelona. Hundreds of tapas bars with typical Spanish specialties await visitors on the amusement mile Las Ramblas.

Day 6 – Valencia, Spain

The impressive cathedral, home of the “Holy Grail,” rises between the narrow streets of Valencia’s picturesque old town. A stark contrast to this is the Ciutat de les Arts i les Ciències – the futuristic buildings in the former riverbed of the Turia in the Spanish port city resembling spaceships.

Day 7 – At Sea

A chance for you to enjoy everything Vasco da Gama has to offer, including the open decks and swimming pool, gym & spa, restaurants, public lounges, library, theatre and so much more!
