Wonders await on this cruise from Malta to the idyllic island of Naxos, where the landscapes of lemon and orange trees exude an invigorating aroma that seems to infuse the mountains, valleys, beaches and clear blue waters with an ethereal beauty.

On the island of Rhodes, stroll through the old quarter of the capital, former home to one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, the legendary Colossus. Explore the historic walled city, or consider a visit to the Palace of the Grand Masters, a fascinating medieval castle modelled on the Papal Palace of Avignon.

In Cyprus, enjoy wine-tasting in the vineyards of the Limassol district, followed by a visit to the mysterious ancient burial site known as the Tombs of the Kings. Discover the city’s medieval old quarter and admire the elegant yachts in the harbour, or simply relax on the beach until sunset, for an evening ashore and an overnight stay.

Cross the Mediterranean to the Turkish resort town of Marmaris, for a walk through the cobblestone old district to the castle. Put your haggling skills to the test at the bazaar and sip a cocktail in a waterfront bar, before departing for the classical wonders of Bodrum, where the ruins of the Mausoleum at Halicarnassus offer a tantalising glimpse of another lost Wonder of the Ancient World.

In Crete, the 14th-century harbour city of Chania is renowned for its relaxed waterfront, with sights including the Agios Nikolaos Church, the Venetian lighthouse and the Venetian dockyard halls. In the Peloponnese, enjoy another antique highlight on an excursion to ancient Olympia, where the original Olympic Games took place, including a visit to the Archaeological Museum, where finds from the site include the Head of Hera, ornaments from the Temple of Zeus, Praxiteles’ famous statue of Hermes and the helmet of Miltiades.

Discover the beautiful city of Messina, the gateway to Sicily, or visit enchanting Taormina and learn more about this glamorous hilltop town, where highlights include the 3rd-century BC Graeco-Roman Theatre and the backdrop of Mount Etna. Cinema fans may also like to take a scenic drive into the mountains, for the remote villages of Savoca and Forza d’Agrò, used to create the eponymous seat of the Corleone family in the epic Godfather saga.
