Côte d’Azur, Iberia & West Mediterranean Islands Cruise Summary

Experience a dash of French chic on this cruise from Malta to the island of Sardinia, where the beaches of the Costa Smeralda are the rival of the Caribbean, for sights including the pretty resort town of Porto Cervo, or Sardinia’s “secret islands” of La Maddalena.

In Corsica, visit the reputed birthplace of Christopher Columbus in the fishing town of Calvi, where the view is dominated by an imposing citadel at the mouth of the bay.

Cruise to France for the glamourous resort town of Nice, which has attracted some of the most outstanding artists in history, including Marc Chagall and Henri Matisse, both of whose works are commemorated in the city’s museums. Alternatively, head to the hills for the charming medieval village of St Paul-de-Vence, a haven for the rich and famous known as the “Pearl of Provence.”

In Menorca, enjoy a sight-seeing tour of the island, including an exclusive wine and cheese tasting event. Or join a guided hike through the diverse natural habitats of the S’Albufera des Grau Natural Park, followed by the peninsula of La Mola, where the 19th-century stone fortress is one of the Balearic’s most important historic landmarks.

Málaga is the birthplace of Picasso, with a skyline dominated by the ruins of Castillo de Gibralfaro. Enjoy a guided tour of the town, before relaxing in the cafés and boutiques of the old quarter. Or visit the Alhambra Palace, one of the most breathtaking buildings in the world and the most outstanding symbol of Moorish heritage in Spain.

Discover Cádiz, historic gateway to the New World, where the buildings of the old quarter seem to shimmer with silver when bathed in pure white sunlight. Visit Jerez de la Frontera for a sampling of its most famous export, Sherry, before enjoying some practical insights into traditional Spanish cuisine, during a tapas cookery class at an authentic bodega.

Alternatively, enjoy a daytrip to the magical city of Seville, birthplace of Flamenco, for a tour of its greatest UNESCO World Heritage Sites, including the Alcazar Royal Palace, once described as a vision of heaven on earth.

Day 1 – Valletta, Malta

The capital of Malta, which has been a UESCO World Heritage Site since 1980, offers numerous sights: the Grand Master’s Palace, St. John’s Co-Cathedral, Fort St. Elmo and many other impressive buildings adorn the city. The smallest capital in Europe was founded by the Grand Master of the Order of Malta, who also gave it its name: Jean de la Vallette.

Day 3 – Olbia, Sardinia

Day 4 – Calvi, Corsica

The small fishing town of Calvi in ​​the northwest of the island fascinates with its cozy old town. On a small headland lies the mighty citadel, which, in addition to a cathedral, also houses a bishop’s palace and the supposed birthplace of Christopher Columbus.






Day 5 – Villefranche-sur-Mer (Nice), France – Tender Port

Day 9 – Cadiz (Seville), Spain

Cádiz in Andalusia is a Spanish port city built on a headland and surrounded by the sea on almost all sides. The more than 100 watchtowers traditionally looked out for merchant and expedition ships. Cádiz is one of the oldest cities in Western Europe and is characterised by a winding old town with many small squares.

Day 10 – Lisbon, Portugal

In Lisbon, the famous Padrão des Descobrimentos monument commemorates adventurous sailors such as the namesake of our VASCO DA GAMA or Ferdinand Magellan. Explore the fascinating metropolis and enjoy the Portuguese lifestyle!
