Canary Islands, Morocco & Iberian Peninsula – Cruise Summary

Discover the Portuguese Algarve, Spanish Andalusia and Moorish North Africa, on this springtime cruise that begins with the most beautiful islands of the Canaries.

On the island of La Palma, explore the UNESCO nature reserve of Los Tilos and the gigantic volcanic crater of the Caldera de Taburiente National Park, before winding down with a glass of local wine at an exclusive tasting.

Tiny La Gomera is a place of lush green forests and steep mountains. Hike the UNESCO World Heritage Garajonay National Park, sit back and relax on a panoramic tour across the north of the island, or enjoy the wonderful sandy beaches to the south.

On Lanzarote, admire the Fire Mountains of Timanfaya National Park, created by a series of volcanic eruptions in 1730. Or visit the unique Cactus Garden, designed by local artist Cesar Manrique, followed by the Museum of Contemporary Art, located inside an old military fort.

Arriving in Morocco, immerse yourself in the exotic souks of Agadir’s old quarter, or take a day trip to the UNESCO World Heritage Medina and “Scala de la Kasbah” fortress of Essaouira. Alternatively, stroll through the labyrinthine alleyways of magical Marrakesh.

In Casablanca, tour the Dar Al Ala “House of Music” Museum and marvel at the breath-taking main minaret of the Hassan II Mosque, the tallest of its kind in the Islamic world. Or take the opportunity to enjoy a full-day excursion to the capital of Rabat.

In Spain, explore Cádiz, known as ‘The White City,’ which appears to shimmer like silver in the sunlight. Enjoy a very special tapas cooking class in a quaint bodega and visit Jerez de la Frontera for a guided tour, before sampling the city’s most famous export, Sherry. Or you may like to visit the romantic Andalusian capital of Seville.

On the Portuguese coast, experience a taste of traditional fishing life in the historic city of Portimão and look out across the Atlantic Ocean from Sagres Point, the edge of the known world before the Age of Discovery. Visit the lively town of Lagos, which is renowned for its unique mix of culture and beaches. Or for those who fancy a little more adventure than Sagres and Lagos, explore the mountain villages of the Algarve by jeep.
