Day-by-Day Itinerary

Day 1: Passau

Passau: Casting off 9:30 p.m.
Fly from London to Munich and transfer by rail to vessel. Embarkation from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Day 2: Vienna

Vienna: Mooring 1:30 p.m. – Casting off 5:30 p.m.
Join us on our sightseeing tour in the traditional Danube metropolis Vienna. The bus will take you along the Uno-City and Danube Island. You will see impressive buildings such as the state opera, the Burgtheater, the Hofburg, Parliament, town hall and Votive Church along the famous Ring Road. During a guided walk, you will experience the special atmosphere of this charming city. After some time of leisure, the bus will take you back to the vessel.

Day 3: Salt, Mohacs

Salt: Mooring 1:30 p.m. – Casting off 2:00 p.m.
Pecs is one of the most beautiful cities in Hungary. The abundance of historical buildings and monuments are also the reason for being part of the UNESCO-World Heritage. During your guided walk you will see the Szecheny place, the plague pillar, the Cathedral, the Szsami Mosque and the Zsolnay fountain.
Mohacs: Mooring 9:00 p.m. – Castin off 11:00 p.m.
Evening light tour by ship with live background music.


Day 4: Belgrade

Belgrade: Mooring 1:00 p.m. – Casting off 12:00 a.m.
You will visit the Kalemegdan Fortress which is also the most famous landmark of Belgrade. Enjoy a wonderful panoramic view over the confluence of Save and Danube as well as New-Belgrade. You can admire some artifacts of the Museum of Military History as you pass by. During a guided walk, you have the opportunity to explore the city center with its pedestrian zone and Republic square and experience the vibrant atmosphere of the Serbian capital. The following bus tour will take you past the palace, town hall and the Church of the Holy Sava, one of the biggest Orthodox churches in the world.


Day 5: Iron Gate

Passage through the Danube Cataracts with the famous “Iron Gate”.

Day 6: Ruse

Ruse: Mooring 12:00 p.m. – Casting off 9:00 p.m.
The 5th biggest city of Bulgaria with the largest free port of Danube, was called once Sexaginta Prista – “the city with the 60 ships”. The city tour starts in the historic city center, passing the train station on its way to the Pantheon, a Christian memorial honoring Bulgarian heroes. The houses represent an interesting mixture of Baroque, Renaissance and other epochs. You will also see the Alyosha monument, the concert hall and the Trinity Church. The latter will be visited before a little walk through the city center, sightseeing of the memorial of freedom, the opera house and court. A small folklore show will show you the Bulgarian traditions before you’ll get back to the ship.

Day 7: Cernavoda

Cernavoda: Mooring 6:30 a.m. – Casting off 5:00 p.m.
Constanta is also known as Tomis in the Greek Sagas. Your sightseeing tour will start at Ovid Square. Ovid was banned from Rome and spent his last years in Constanta. He has been honored by a statue on the former Greek market square. There you can also find the Historical museum as well as the largest preserved floor mosaic. On the way to the Romanian-Orthodox church you’ll passing the mosque. At the church you will learn more about the Romanian-Orthodox religion and about the excavation nearby before you continue the walk to the casino, which is located directly at the beach. Afterwards you can enjoy Romanian specialties. In your leisure time you can visit the old seaside resort Mamaia right at the Black Sea coast. Feel free to take a walk or swim in the sea before the bus will take you back to the vessel.

Day 8: Giurgiu

Giurgiu: Mooring 7:30 a.m. – Casting off 2:00 p.m.
You will be amazed during your visit of Bucharest with its wide alleys and impressing buildings. It is called “Little Paris of the East” for a reason! Experience the special atmosphere of the city during a stroll through the old-town (Lipskan), where you have the opportunity to visit one of the oldest Romanian-Orthodox churches „Stavropoleus“ and learn more about the history of the religion. After a short fotostop at one of the biggest buildings of the world, the Palace of Parliament, you´ll go back to the vessel.


Day 9: Iron Gate


Day 10: Novi Sad

Novi Sad: Mooring 2:30 p.m. – Casting off 11:30 p.m.
This tour will take you past the Peterwardein Fortress, driving for about half an hour through the hilly landscape of Fruska Gora (Holy Mountains), a ridge 80 km long and up to 20 km wide. The Holy Mountains are home to 17 monasteries. The most famous of these is the Krusedol Monastery, which is located in the middle of a birch forest. In this monastery you will learn in detail about the Serbian Orthodox religion. On the way back, the bus takes you to the city center, where you get off and take a walk to explore the old town, which has been beautifully and very colorfully restored.

Day 11: Aljmas, Batina, Mohacs

Aljmas: Mooring 8:00 a.m. – Casting off 9:00 a.m.
Approx. a 1-hour bus ride from our pier in the area between Danube and Drava lies the Kopacki rit Nature Park, one of the largest and best-preserved wetlands in Europe. The canals and lakes, which are covered with reeds and whose surface is covered with white water lilies, are mostly surrounded by white willow trees. These give numerous freshwater fish (carp, pike, perch), reptiles (fire salamander, pond turtle) and bird species (cormorants, storks) a home. Probably the most famous inhabitant is Europe’s largest eagle: the white-tailed eagle. Experience the untouched nature on a boat trip and if you are lucky, you will also see some of the wildlife there. Kindly note that we cannot guarantee that the animal world will show itself in all its splendor. Afterwards you will visit the nearby Rural House, where you will learn more about the area, its tradition and culture in an interesting and humorous presentation. Tasting local products such as Ajvar and slivovitz is included as much as finding out what lies behind the fearsome “Busho” mask before going back to the ship.

Batina: Mooring 12:00 p.m. – Casting off 2:00 p.m.

Mohacs: Mooring 4:00 p.m. – Casting off 6:00 p.m.

Day 12: Budapest

Budapest: Mooring 9:00 a.m. – Casting off 9:00 p.m.
Budapest is one of the most beautiful cities in Europe and is also called the “queen of the Danube”. During your city tour by bus and by foot you will see for example the castle district with the fisherman’s bastion and the Matthias Church. Afterwards there will be a short photo-stop on Gellerthill to enjoy a wonderful view over the city.

Day 13: Bratislava

Bratislava: Mooring 3:00 p.m. – Casting off 6:00 p.m.
Close to the border to Austria and Hungary, Bratislava lies in the fertile Danube plain south of the Little Carpathians. First you will have a short bus tour that will take you up to the Fortress. You will be impressed by the wonderful panoramic view over the city. Learn more about the interesting history of the fortress which used to be the residence of numerous Hungarian kings in the past. Afterwards you will explore the beautifully restored Old Town with its baroque buildings such as the Redoute, National theater, the Town Hall and palaces which remind the visitors of their glorious past during k.u.k. monarchy. Among other things, you will also get to know probably the most famous man of Bratislava, Gullimann Cumil.

Day 14: Weißenkirchen

Weißenkirchen: Mooring 9:00 a.m. – Casting off 11:30 a.m.
An indispensable destination is the old Kuenringer town Dürnstein, where tradition and beauty merge in a unique way. During your guided walk in Duernstein, the “pearl of the Wachau region”, you will visit the Baroque Church which is the most famous landmark of the town with its blue-white tower. Enjoy during the subsequent free time the special atmosphere of the place.

Day 15: Passau

Passau: Mooring 4:30 a.m.
Disembarkation until 9:30 a.m. Transfer by rail to Munich Airport or add a city stay (prices on request).

The excursions marked in red can only be booked on board. Mooring and casting off times are guidance times. We reserve the right to change itineraries and excursion programmes. If a route cannot be travelled due to low/high water or a ship defect, the shipping company reserves the right to take passengers on this route by bus, to accommodate them in hotels and/or change the route. In certain circumstances it may be necessary to change to another ship.
