We were delighted to announce even more exciting news this week, with the arrival of MS Douro Serenity to our fleet of 19 ships next year, which includes the highly rated new ship nickoVISION.
The Douro River, situated in the UNESCO Heritage Site of the Douro Valley in Portugal, is undoubtedly one of Europe’s oldest and most renowned wine & port regions and the third largest river in the Iberian Peninsula.
MS Douro Serenity will be sailing the river and has scheduled 36 cruises in 2021 sailing from Porto through the Douro Valley to the Spanish border. She was built in 2017 and is considered to have an ‘ultra-modern’ feeling, accommodating 126 guests in 63 cabins and over three decks. MS Douro Serenity has a restaurant, bar/lounge area, a pool with sun deck and panoramic windows that can be lowered throughout.

Serenity will operate 8-day round-trip river voyages departing from Portugal’s Porto, through the Douro Valley with ports of call and variety of destination-led and inclusive shore excursions. Highlights include a guided tour into the pilgrim city of Lamego, widely regarded as the “cultural capital” of the Douro region within proximity to many key locations and places to visit.
Cruising on the Douro is not only a wonderfully cultural river cruise experience but it is also a tranquil and extremely relaxed experience where you will encounter the friendly and welcoming locals.
Setting sail next year for Nicko Cruises, seven-night Douro sailings on MS Douro Serenity will start from £1,395 per person. Prices include return economy flights and Portugal transfers, all on board meals, unlimited drinks (including wine, beer and cocktails), all soft and hot drinks, Wifi, four guided excursions, gratuities and port taxes.
